Unique 2009 Sponsorship Invitation Packet available
May 1, 2009_The Home Run offers community minded companies a unique

New Volunteer positions in 2009 Home Run 5/1/09
Nearly 100 volunteers are needed for the Home Run in registration, finish line,
water stop, course monitors and other jobs - which are all part of the action and
fun. Volunteer now to be a part of the 2009 Home Run in the new Carolina

Colonial Life Running Club promotes fitness. 2/4/09
With over 1,000 employees in Columbia Colonial Life is a leader in promoting
healthy active lifestyles through their Running Club. The race committee is very
thankful for the Colonial Running Club active participation in the Home Run
and invitation to a guest speaker at their Feb 4th, 2009 club meeting. The

Rick Henry Announces 2008 Home Run . 9/4/08
Not many people get to experience the thrill of a run
down the 3rd base line at Sarge Frye baseball field
hearing the WIS News 10 Sports Director and
Anchor announce their arrival. Unless you were in
the 2008 Ray Tanner Home Run of course. We
welcomed back Rick who announced the inaugural
Home Run in 2006 (pictured right).
Optimist Club and Ray Tanner reach out to kids at E. E. Taylor 9/30/08
For the 2008 Home Run Tricia Lavin, Kids Run Director extended a special
invitation to students of Edward E Taylor Elementary School to participate in the
Kids Fun Run. Working with E. E. Taylor teacher Barbara Babb we have
arranged for the entry fee for students to be paid by the Optimist Club of St.
Andrews as a community service to help bring out the best in kids.
Proposed 12K Home Run Course for 2009
July 8, 2009_The Home Run race course is designed by local runners. 2009
course options have been mapped out based on a survey of what we like (and
hate) most in a course of this distance and feedback from our first 3 Home Runs
and test runs by local runners in May and again in July. Now you can review the
maps and test run the 12K and 5K course. Tell us what you

Ray Tanner Foundation to Host annual Auction and
Benefit Dinner
Jan. 19, 2010_The Ray Tanner Home Run and an annual auction and
benefit dinner are the two largest fund raisers for Ray and Karen
Tanner's work to help local disadvantaged children and families. This
year's Auction and Dinner will be held on February 6th at 701 Whaley.
Tickets are $125. For information contact Kristi Davis at 803-777-7830.
Ray Tanner Foundation to Adopt More Families
for Christmas
Oct. 17, 2009_Thanks to entries, sponsors and volunteers in this
year's Home Run Ray and Karen Tanner announced they are once
again donating new bicycles and helmets to kids for Christmas
through the WISTV Families helping Families project through their
Foundation.

Oct. 6, 2009_As you finish your last half mile with anticipation of the
best Home Run finish ever, how about a little music and cheer to

12K 2009 State Championship
July 17, 2009_The Ray Tanner Home Run will host the 2009 12K SC Road
Runners Club of America state championship. We are honored to be selected by
Road Runners Club of America who awards championship events through a
competitive bidding process at the National, Regional, and State level. The goal
of the RRCA Championship Events is to help recruit top performing runners,
attract sponsors, and improve civic and media support. A championship
designation communicates to athletes and the community that the race
organizers have agreed to follow approved guidelines in the conduct of the event.

Fleet Feet 5K Training for Home Run
July 21,2009_It was standing room only as new and renewed runners joined
together on their journey to Home Plate in Fleet Feet's popular No Boundaries 5K
training program. Thank you Fleet Feet for helping us promote Columbia running,
healthy active lifestyles and the fun of group training. We are honored to have
Fleet Feet's coach Toni and all the runners in training on the Home Run team.
